Liquid Church Members Team Up for Day of Service

175 volunteers help re-landscape senior citizen's home in Nutley and more.

Caldwell resident Mike Bossard was part of a team of 175 volunteers who participated in a daylong community service event on Saturday, June 2 with Liquid Church in Nutley.

Bossard’s group helped to re-landscape a senior citizen's home. Other projects included refurbishing the American Red Cross food bank facility, installing new landscaping at Nutley elementary, middle and high schools, as well as helping several families in need identified by the Nutley Services Bureau with home improvement projects. More than $20,000 was spent across the various Nutley sites, according to a press release from Liquid Church.

Tim Lucas, lead pastor of Liquid Church noted, "At Liquid, we believe the best way to demonstrate our love for God is by loving our neighbors in need. We want to challenge Christians to put their faith into action by helping the homeless, the hungry, and the hurting all across New Jersey this spring."

On June 1-2, Liquid Church volunteers partook in an extreme makeover during a 24-hour marathon in New Brunswick at Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen, which serves over 100,000 meals a year.

Two hundred volunteers signed-up to build kitchen shelving and organization, install new lighting and fixtures, replace bathroom fixtures, purchase and install café furniture and repaint the facility. Total budget for the construction project exceeded $20,000. The church also hosted a barbecue so that Elijah’s Promise could continue to serve clients while under construction.

Lucas founded Liquid Church in 2001. The church’s vision is to “take church to the people” with campuses in Morristown, New Brunswick and Nutley.

And....... Was the Gospel of Jesus Christ also shared? I applaud the churches effort but if works of friendship are elevated.... Then the cross is bring diminished.
