Government, School Meetings Lead up to Columbus Day Parade

The Belleville Municipal Council meets at 7 p.m. at the Council Chambers in Town Hall. 

The Nutley Board of Ed meets on Monday night at 6:30 at the John H. Walker Middle School Music Room.

The Nutley Department of Public Affairs holds a blood pressure screening on Monday and Tuesday. The Monday screening takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday screening is from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Both free walk-in clinics take place at the Public Affairs building at 149 Chestnut Street. 

Nutley Schools are closed on Friday for Professional Day.

Saturday, Nutley holds a Leaf Bag Distribution Day and Food Drive. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents can pick up their free 10 bio-degradable bags from the Public Works Garage at 1 Cortland Street. For more information contact the Department of Public Works at (973) 284-4984 Monday thru Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 

The Belleville-Nutley Columbus Day Parade starts at 1:30 p.m. at Belleville High School on Sunday and continues north on Franklin Avenue, ending at Nutley's Oval.

Belleville and Nutley Town Hall will be closed Monday, Oct. 14 for Columbus Day.
