October Weekend Brings Columbus Day Cheer, Haunted House Scares

Patch's guide to highlights for the weekend in Nutley and Belleville.

On Sunday at 1:30 pm, the Belleville-Nutley Columbus Day Parade starts at Belleville High School, 100 Passaic Ave., proceeds north on Franklin Avenue and ends at Nutley High School, 300 Franklin Ave.  The parade has more than 1,000 participants and 90+ entries, which include marching bands, drill teams, antique automobiles, motorcycles, floats, balloons, flags and representation from many local town organizations.

State Fair’s Haunted Haunt is open for horror business this weekend, as 229 Main St. in Belleville becomes “Maim street” on Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7 p.m. to Midnight. Tickets are $30 (VIP), $18 for Adults, $15 for Children 12 and under.  There’s also a “Not-so-Scary” Kids’ Sunday matinee from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 a person and adults must be accompanied by a child age 12 and under.
