Nutley Hosts Prescription Drug Take Back on Saturday

People can dispose of unwanted prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Nutley Police headquarters on April 27.

Nutley will host a prescription drug takeback this weekend.  The Nutley Police Department will take part in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Public Safety Building at 228 Chestnut St. The service is free and anonymous, and no questions will be asked. According to a notice on Nutley's website, the goal of the program is to allow the citizens of New Jersey to deliver all of their unused, unwanted, or expired medications to law enforcement officials who can in turn dispose of these controlled substances in a safe and non-hazardous manner, preventing these pills from falling into the hands of juveniles or into the illicit market in our communities. Nutley Man Arrested in Connection with Heroin Death

Police believe man delivered drug to man who overdosed in 2010.

Pequannock police have arrested a Nutley man in connection with a 2010 fatal heroin overdose.  Following a multi-year investigation, Eric G. Delia, 23, of Nutley, was charged Feb. 15 with possession of a controlled deadly substance and possession of a controlled deadly substance within 500 Feet of a public park, according to a release on the department's website.  The charges stem from the death of an unidentified 27-year-old Pequannock man who was found dead in his apartment on June 28, 2010. Police were reportedly called to his home when the man’s mother alerted emergency responders after discovering her son unresponsive in his apartment.
