A series of allied health courses will be offered starting in February at the Newark campus of Essex County College. Call 973-877-3079 for registration and other information on any of these allied health programs. Pharmacy Technician is a 17-session certificate program designed to prepare students for employment as a technician working under the direction of a registered pharmacist in a hospital or community pharmacy setting. The class will meet Mondays, starting Feb. 11, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The June 17 class only will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be prepared to take the national certificate examination. Essex County College's Dembele and nine former athletes are in London for summer games, while three former students have already won a total of six medals in previous competitions.
When the track and field athletes compete in the 2012 summer games, Essex County will be well represented. Among the competitors will be Moussa Dembele and nine other Essex County College track team graduates. Three of the former ECC Lady Wolverines who have won a total of six medals in previous Olympics are among this year’s ECC Olympians, according to Wayne Yourstone, a college spokesman. Moussa turned in his fastest time in the 110 meter hurdles this past spring for the college in the National Junior College Athletic Association Outdoor championship. Dozens of Belleville residents scored a mention on Essex County College's Dean's List for the previous semester. They needed to make a grade point average of 3.5 or higher to be on the list.
