PHOTOS: A Delightful Dog Day Afternoon at Obals!

The friendly neighborhood event at Obals Inn drew quite a crowd and helped homeless pets at the Bloomfield Animal Shelter, with help from Nutley dog groomer.

Not only did Sunday's "Dog Day Afternoon" fundraiser benefit pets at the Bloomfield Animal Shelter, everyone had a doggone good time. Hosted by Obal’s Inn, the 4th annual  event featured a "Best Of" contest for dogs, as well as prizes, raffles, balloons, bubbles and the friendly Bloomfield Dalmation mascot.  Mayor McCarthy presented a plaque of appreciation to Obals owner Robin Janes for her fourth year of hosting Dog Day Afternoon and Capoochino’s Pet Groomer of Nutley donated free grooming and pet manicures.  The Bloomfield Animal Shelter was there too, of course, with adoptable pets and supplies. Meet Babybell and Banjo

Bloomfield Animal Shelter Hopes to Find a Home for These Animals.

Babybell is sick of winter so she's taking up indoor gardening. Under a year old, this delicate flower is part Devon Rex. She's timid but will befriend those who take their time getting acquainted. You might say she allows people to grow on her. Can you be the one to give her a change in scenery during this change of season? Come meet Babybell at the John A. Bukowski Shelter for Animals and watch her blossom before your very eyes! Banjo needs no music to show off his talents. This sweet, small Maltese/Wheaten Terrier is happy to dance on his hind legs for anyone who asks.
