The James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival continues this weekend at NJPAC. The weeklong festival pays tribute to longtime Newarker and late great jazz artist James Moody. Headliners for Friday night's 7 p.m. show include George Benson, The Manhattan Transfer and David Sanborn as well as special guests Kenny Barron, Jon Faddis, Jimmy Heath, Paquito D’Rivera, Christian McBride, and more. On Saturday, there will be an 8 p.m. show featuring an all-star performance of the original Gil Evans arrangements of three classic Miles Davis recordings. Those performers include trumpeter Terence Blanchard, bassist Christian McBride, drummer Peter Erskine, and many more. NJPAC is hosting a night of Motown greats this Saturday. In honor of this year's NJPAC fundraising gala, the concert hall will feature A Night in Motown - including En Vogue, The Four Tops, Valerie Simpson and Darlene Love. The performers will be under the direction of American Idol music director Ray Chew. The show will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at Prudential Hall. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) has announced its schedule for the 2012-13 season, which is filled with new festivals, curatorial and artistic collaborations, and community partnerships, programs and artist outreach that will take place within and beyond its stages. Throughout the season, NJPAC will continue to add performances.
