Nutley Business Owner Advances to Final Round of Business Pitch Challenge

Owners of Food for the Soul Train among 10 Finalists to Pitch in finale round of the Start Something Challenge

The owners of Nutley business Food for the Soul Train are pitching their ideas to a panel of celebrity judges for a chance to win $10,000 to finance their business.

Amy Williamson, who runs Food for the Soul Train with partner Maya Stein, was one of 10 New Jersey entrepreneurs that advanced to the final round of the Rising Tide Capital’s Start Something Challenge business pitch competition. 

With Food for the Soul Train, Williamson and Stein hold writing and art workshops from their vintage camper trailer.

Williamson and Stein were among 137 business owners from 38 New Jersey municipalities competing in the Challenge and one of 30 advancing to the semifinals of the competition on October 23.

The semifinalists used marketing tools to drive traffic to their videos on the Start Something Challenge website employing tips garnered from a Rising Tide Capital marketing seminar.

The Grand Finale and live pitch will take place in Jersey City on Nov. 18 to determine the three winners who will win cash prizes at Start Something Champions Gala on December 10. A panel of ten judges, including Regina Gwyn director of marketing of The Apparel Group and Stacey Flanagan director of Health & Human Services, City of Jersey City, will decide on the winners.
